A United Nations report reveal that over 9 million children in Ethiopia are out of school due to conflict, violence, natural disasters, and displacement, with more than 6,000 schools closed. UNICEF’s Humanitarian Situation Report highlights that 10,000 schools, 18% of the nations total, have been damaged by conflict and climate shocks. The worst-affected regions are Amhara (4.4 million out-of-school children), Oromia (3.2 out-of-school children and Tigrai (1.2 million.) In Amhara alone only 32% of children are enrolled for the current academic year, according to the Forum for Higher Education Institutions.
